MY PROFESSION

I AM A TEACHER

I am a teacher not because I went to college
Not because I am taught how to teach
Not because I am paid salary
Not because I have to teach to live
Not because there are no 'better jobs'
Not because I'm compelled.
Not because I want to be called Sir/Master.
I AM A TEACHER because it is my CALLING.

Sometimes I look at my certificate, my school, my pupils as I compare it with my salary, I laugh
When I look at what I teach, how i teach it, I thank God for taking me through college.

But when I sit down and look at the past, how the end has been for some teachers as compared to other professionals, I feel sorry for the profession.

But when I remember that it is the TEACHER that produces all other professionals, I feel blessed.

I am SATISFIED when I see my students becoming useful to the society.

I conclude that teaching is not just my job,
It's my CALLING.
It's my PURPOSE.
I feel proud being a Teacher.
I LIVE to TEACH!!!

A TEACHER

WHO IS A TEACHER?

Many people believe  a teacher is just someone who teaches in a classroom, little do they know that a teacher is much more. I will take time to explain more on who a teacher is as we read on.

A teacher is commonly known as someone who teaches i.e. in a classroom. A teacher is very necessary in the educational system because if we have no teacher, the coming generation would be left ignorant.

A teacher is a pacesetter. Who is a pacesetter? A pacesetter is someone who gets good examples for others to follow. A teacher sets the pace in many areas; Educationally, Religiously, Morally and Socially. In an educational system, students see their teacher, especially the little ones, as a person who cannot make mistakes find children even go to the extent of saying 'that is not how my teacher taught us'. In the religious aspect, Christians and Muslims and even traditional worshipers look up to their religious leaders to lead them aright which clearly shows that teachers are pacesetters.

A teacher is a nation builder different profession helps in developing the nation and no profession is less important, both educational and non-educational profession. However, each person goes through a teacher. a certified doctor has to pass through many years of training in the school and is taught by a teacher, so also a mechanic who may have not gone to school undergoes training. All these people who helps in developing the nation has passed through a teacher which just means the teacher is a nation builder.

A teacher is a character builder. these point deals with parents, elders in the community as young ones consider them to be the ones who knows how one ought to behave. so every parent as a teacher is assigned with giving the children sound training character wise. Click here for more...

SUCCESS PRINCIPLE Vol 1

THE PRICE OF EXCELLENCE

Excellence is the quality of being exceptional good. For the student, to be excellent is to have an outstanding performance in all subjects. His works are always presentable and impressive to his master. He supplies the right and adequate answers to questions and puzzles. He is thorough in his approach and meticulous in his presentation. This makes him to impress his masters and secure high commendation. Excellence cannot be achieved without paying a price.
A student who desires excellence has a price to pay. There are seven D’s that summarize the price of excellence…
These are:

  • DESIRE: To desire is to wish or long for. This is the foundation of excellence.

  • DESIGNATION: This refers to your goal. You have definite goals set for your overall grade on each subject for each term or the session.

  • DECISION: This refers to action plans or what to do and how to achieve the desired goal.

  • DIRECTION: This defines the steps you are taking to your desired goals. You refuse to be diverted from your goal.

  • DILIGENCE: This relates to hard work and taking pains to finish every task on schedule e.g. taking notes in the class, finishing assignments, solving hard mathematical sums etc.

  • DETERMINATION: This implies the ability to resist the temptation to give up. You stick to your goal and your plan to arrive there.

  • DISCIPLINE: This is the ability to keep your body under control to achieve your set goal. You say no to every distraction

God is excellent in all His works and He has endowed you with the power of excellence. You need to remember that it is not your I.Q. (intelligence quotient) that ensures your excellence but your ‘I can’ attitude.
Desire is a good thing. It is the power that gets things accomplished. Desire for the best is the inborn tendency of every person on earth. No one prays for second best. Desire is one of the keys to success. When success becomes the cry of your life, and the supreme desire of your soul and all the powers and energies of your spirit, soul and body cry out for it, it will surely come! It is not overstatement of fact to say that a student is limited only by the depth of his desire.
Daniel and his counterparts were ten times better than their classmate in Babylon, why should you desire less? A burning desire to be one of the best in your class should be the propelling force of your life. “Back of all achievement” we are told, “is an intense desire”. A burning desire is always confident, never despairing.
Desire will ignite in you a sense of commitment and hard work. It urges you to sacrifice all to achieve your desired goals. Strong desire results in self-discipline that makes a student conscious of time and utilizes every minute profitably. It keeps your heart and mind on your goal. Desire will overcome obstacles to success and avoid wasteful, useless and distractive activities.
Whatever had been your academic experience in the past, have a desire to make a change not only for the better, but for the best. It is the “burning desire” to a degree we have never yet realized that brings out the realization of the great dreams of our lives. Constantly maintain the hunger, passion and desire for the best at a boiling point in your heart. Before long, your desired success will be realized.
What is the dream of your life? What do you intend to become in the future? A Doctor, lawyer, accountant, architect, engineer, journalist, diplomat, pilot, nurse, or radiographer? There must be a burning desire to achieve your aim. You must have a resolute determination to attain your chief aim and expect that it shall be realized. Strong desire puts you ahead of mediocre and pitches your tent with men of great achievements.
There must be an insatiable desire for excellence within you. Develop a strong passion, hunger and desire to be among the best always. Before long, your expectation shall be realized.

SUCCESS OBSTACLES

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES TO SUCCESS
The way to success is upward on the hill-top and not downwards. Climbing is difficult and tasking but it is the success way. On this way are sure obstacles you will meet. Some of the obstacles are right within you, others around while some are across the way. Looking up at success on the hill-top, your first obstacle is the thought within you – can I ever get there? Won’t I fall if I try to climb up there? This wrong mental attitude at looking at certain subjects, topics and assignments mad a lot of students to have failed. Remove the fear of failure. No student is a failure until he lies down never to try gain.
Rough surfaces, stones and pebbles abound on the hill top way of success. Yet you need to realize if the way up the hill were smooth, it will be slippery to climb. Suppose everyone who passed through secondary school and university has just been given certificate without studying, doing assignments and facing examinations. There would have been no competent teachers in our school, doctors in the hospitals, engineers in our industries and managers over the establishments.
Obstacles mould us into the very shape of success we are to achieve. It is upon the stones on the pathway of success you are to place your steps to climb higher. Obstacles offer opportunities to excel. Conflicts, disturbances, discouragements, poverty, difficult subjects and past failures should be made your stepping stone to success.
How then can we overcome obstacles? Every obstacle is a stepping stone to success. Silent every thought of failure, and impossibility within you and think right up. Set your mind positively right knowing fully well that you will overcome. Single out each obstacle and know what it is. Study and search for possible solutions to it. Stand and face the obstacle with the prescribed solution or the way out. Seek for assistance from your teacher, parents or experienced people as the case may be.
As you overcome each obstacle on the way to success, it will strengthen you to face others. Therefore never give up. You can overcome and you will overcome.

HEART OF A GREAT TEACHER

WHAT LIES IN THE HEART OF A GREAT TEACHER?
KINDNESS
A great teacher shows kindness to students, colleagues, parents and those around her/him. My favorite saying is “kindness makes the world go around”. It truly changes the environment in the classroom and school. Being a kind teacher helps students feel welcomed, cared for and loved.
COMPASSION
Teaching is a very humanistic profession, and compassion is the utmost feeling of understanding, and showing others you are concerned about them. A compassionate teacher models that characteristic to the students with her/his actions, and as a result students will be more open to understanding the world around them. A teacher must take outside factors into consideration, for example, if a student has just lost his/her loved one, the teacher should be sensitive to that and adjust accordingly.
EMPATHY
Empathy is such an important trait to have and to try to develop in ourselves and our students. Being able to put yourself in someone’s shoes and see things from their perspective can have such a powerful impact on our decisions and actions. A teacher must put his/her self in the student's shoes and see it from their perspective. this approach if often trancending in how to help the child succeed.
OPTIMISTIC
Being a positive person, is not an easy task. A positive teacher is even harder when we’re always met with problems with very limited solutions. However, staying positive when it’s tough can have such a tremendous positive impact on the students and everyone around us. Looking on the bright side always seems to help make things better.
BUILDER
A great teacher bridges gaps and builds relationships, friendships, and a community. Teachers always look to make things better and improve things in and outside of the classroom. Building a community is something a great teacher seeks to do in the classroom and extends that to the entire school and its community.
INSPIRING
Everyone looks at a great teacher and they want to be a better teacher, they want to be a better student, even better, they want to be a better person. A great teacher uncovers hidden treasures, possibilities and magic right before everyone’s eyes.

TIME IS LIFE

  TIME

Time they say is for everything;
Make use of it wisely,
Because it is precious indeed,
Time to be happy,
And time to be weary,

Time to study,
And time to tell story,
Time to work,
And time to play.
Don't misuse your time.
It is precious indeed.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.
Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.

Time...
We need to spend our time carefully, our time and our lives. I've collected here my favorite quotes about time that help me to be inspired and remind me how precious and important every moment is. I hope you will also find them useful and enjoy reading this post.
